The Final Exam is required in order to pass the course.

LATE ASSIGNMENTS:

Late assignments will be lowered one letter grade or 10 points. NO ASSIGNMENTS will be accepted if they are more than two weeks late, regardless of the reason. No work is accepted after the end of the course. If a student becomes too far behind, s/he should drop the class and retake it at a more convenient time.

FINAL COURSE GRADE:

Compositions: 15%
Class Participation: 20%
Self Tests and Unannounced Quizes:   10%
Worksheets: 10%
Exams (3): 30%
Final Exam: 15%

MAINTENANCE OF STUDENT RECORDS:

In addition to all other assignments, students should complete all the exercises in the textbook and in the workbook. Most of these exercises can then be corrected by the student, using the answers provided in the back of the book. Students should divide the number of correct answers by the total number of possible answers to get a percentage grade. Students should keep a record of their progress on the Progress Report Form included at the back of this syllabus. This information allows the student to know immediately what areas need further study. This Progress Report is not included in the course grade, and is only for self-evaluation.

Answers to certain exercises from the workbook are to be written on the worksheets provided on pp. 243 to 277 in the workbook. After completing these exercises, students should correct them if answers are provided in the back of he workbook. Show your corrections. Use a different colored ink or pencil to correct, if possible. After reviewing those areas which caused problems, the student should flip the worksheet over and complete the self-test, if there is one. These are the Version A Self-tests. After completing the self-test, the student should correct it, using the answers provided in the back of the workbook, and show corrections. Use a different ink, or pencil, if possible. This information should help you evaluate your progress.

After certain chapters, a second self-test Version B, may be given. These self-tests will not be announced.

Students should keep copies of their work or notes to study from, as work may not be returned prior to exams.
