Presentational Aids

With the increase in presentational technology, like Powerpoint and remote mouses, many speakers are using visual and audio aids in their speeches.  Just because more speakers are using presentational aids does not guarantee that they are using them well, however.  The goal of using an audio or visual aid should be to help the audience better understand the speech,  with the secondary goal of helping the speaker present the speech more effectively.  Many beginning speakers, however, use audio and visual aids as an excuse not to make eye contact with the audience, or as a way to shorten practice time by reading slide after slide to the audience.

As you look at these photographs of speakers using presentational aids, consider what skills are displayed by both the effective and ineffective speakers.
What makes those skills effective or ineffective?  pooraidbill
