MCC students, The Metropolitan
accepts your submissions year round with a deadline for each year’s issue.
Keep in mind that we seek high quality writing of all
types--academic and literary writing, including descriptive, narrative,
expository, and persuasive works, as well as creative prose and
poetry--but you do not need to be a professional writer, artist, or
photographer to place your work here. As you ready your work, we suggest you keep readers in mind, browse selections in our archive,
and talk with others about what you've written--you might want to consult with the Writing Center.
To consider your work for publication,
we need a signed consent form and an electronic copy of the
text. For visual art, see below. Submit your work by following these steps:
1) Prepare the consent form
Obtain a hardcopy consent form from any
MCC Writing Center, or print a copy of the form, available at
http://www.mccneb.edu/library/facultyservices/consent.pdf
to open and print the form.
Sign the form. Please add your e-mail
address to the contact information.
2) Prepare the electronic copy of the
work
(If you need help, visit the
Writing
Center or call Cindy Catherwood at 738-4683)
E-mail copy: Type
your name, phone number and e-mail address at the top of your work or in
the body of your message, and send the file as an attachment to
metropolitan@mccneb.edu
Send the consent form to us
by way of campus or U.S. mail at the address below, or by fax:
(402) 738-4556
Disk copy: Type your name, phone
number and e-mail address at the top of written works. Save the file(s) to a 3.5" disk or
other portable storage. Label the disk with your name and the title of
the work.
Visual Art: Scan or
digitally photograph the item at high resolution--we like TIFF or
JPEG--and prepare a separate file that contains your contact
information, the work's title, and the media/medium. Save the files to a
3.5" disk or other portable storage. Label the disk with your name and
the title of the work. For art only, we also accept quality
reproductions--photocopies and photos--no larger than 8.5x11 inches.
Attach the disk/portable copy of your work to the
consent form, and send these to
