Grown mainly in California, and also in Idaho

Peak Season:


Available year round with peak season starting in August through November.

Information and Usage:

Red onions are found world wide. They are milder than yellow onions, and is often sweet. They are eaten raw in salads, boiled or baked, or used to flavor sauces, stews and soups.

Dry red onions contain a fair amount of vitamin C. They are reputed to be good for the heart. One cup of onions has 36 calories so they are good for low calorie dining. 

One pound of dry onions will serve 4.Onions will keep in a cool dry and dark place for up to 2 months if cool.
