Silver skinned Garlic again has its origin in central Asia. It is now mostly grown in Gilroy, California where 95% of all garlic sold in the US comes from. Garlic has a long history. The ancient Egyptians used garlic to feed the pyramid builders as it had a reputation for giving strength. The ancient Romans fed it to the soldiers to impart courage and endurance. Today, garlic is known for not only its culinary greatness, but it is also being used to lower cholesterol, fight coronary disease as a blood thinner, and it has natural virus fighting components. It strengthens the immune system and in old European mythology, it chased away vampires.
