Leaves and Stems:

Frisee - (Cichorium endivia)

Country of Origin:

Originally from the Mediterranean, most come from California

Peak Season:

Year round

Usage:

Frisee is a finely curled endive. Frisee has narrow, deeply and finely cut curled and twisted leaves, that are pale yellow green to lime green. Baby versions are quite pale and have a fine delicate flavor. As they grow older, they can get quite bitter so it is advisable to use young and tender plants.
