Handling Tips and General Information:

Seckel Pears are the tiny pears with ultra-sweet flavor, maroon and olive green in color. Excellent choice for children's snacks, pickling, or as a garnish. They are beautiful for fruit displays, teaming up with Lady Apples. Seckels are  the sweetest, in fact, that the near bite-size morsels are
sometimes called "sugar pears."

They also have an interesting history.Seckels are believed by many to be the only truly American variety of pear in commercial production. Unlike other varieties developed in the U.S. from a cross or bud sport of other European cultivars, Seckels are thought to have originated as a wild
seedling near Philadelphia.

Pears are a good source of vitamin C and fiber.A medium sized pear, weighing about 166 grams, contains only 100 calories. Levulose, the sweetest of known natural sugars, is found to a greater extent in
fresh pears than any other fruit!
