Kumquat - (Fortunella Japonica)    

Country of Origin:

   Originally of Chinese origin, now grown in Florida, Texas, Arizona  and California.

Peak Season:

Year Round
Peak season for Kumquat is November through August

Handling Tips and General Information:

Kumquat is no bigger than an olive. Kumquat is an edible citrus fruit, where the skin is sweet, and the bright orange flesh is tart and tangy. Kumquats are candied, served with entrees, on fruit trays with other fruits, and used in sauces for lamb, beef and pork. Kumquats make great garnishes for entrees and drinks. kumquats are available fresh and bottled in syrup and may be included in mixed fruit salads, and marmalades.

Kumquats should be stored at 45 degrees F.
