Peak season for Grapefruit is  November through May-Florida, November through April-Texas,  however, Grapefruit  are available year round. 

Handling Tips and General Information:

Indian River Florida or Texas Ruby Red Grapefruit are always a treat when served for breakfast. The average grapefruit has 15 sections for salad service, and a case of 64 counts produces 5 gallons of juice. One 64 ct. will yield 8 oz. of juice.  Ruby Red Grapefruit should be stored at 45-50 degrees F.  Ruby Red Grapefruit come packed in 80/90 lb. boxs-Florida, 60/70 lb. boxes-California,  and 70/80 lb. boxes-Texas.

Quality grapefruit should be plump, firm and heavy for their size, tangy sweet with a clean finish, with medium to thick skin, depending upon type, regular round shaped. The thicker the skin, the less juice.  Sizes for grapefruits are 36, 46, 54, 64, 70, 80, 96, and smalls-126 ( Count per case).
