Handling Tips and General Information:

Red Delicious Apples are the most popular eating apple in the United States...Unfortunately, it is one of the more boring of the pome fruits...Red Delicious Apples were bred to be  very good looking apples, easily shipped and easily stored for long periods of time under special chilled and inert gas environments...It has a dark red skin, shiny in appearance, and when in season, can be quite fresh and juicy tasting. It is not used for cooking as it doesn't retain its shape and gets mushy.
