How to form groups

Class time will be set aside for you to discuss topics with your colleagues. Remember that you aren't limited to the students at your particular site. A group could be set up where each of you is at a different campus location. Some of you might prefer a group which meets physically face-
to-face; some of you might prefer using e-mail alone. What kind of group would you prefer? The only requirement is that all of you agree to write your papers on the same broad topic.

You'll have a week or so to shift groups if you wish to do so, but after this trial period, you'll have to decide which group you'll stay with for the remainder of the quarter.

Yes , sometimes there are peronality clashes, so pick a group that you can work with comfortably. Although all of you in the group will be writing about the same general topic, you may be coming at it from different or even opposite viewpoints. Healthy disagreement is a good thing as long as we respect one another; however, if resentment develops, it may inhibit the working of the whole group. If you find that you are uncomfortable working with a specific group, you may want to consider switching groups. If you are uncomfortable because you aren't being respected, I want to know about it.

After the trial week is over, I'll ask for a list of all groups and their members. If there are any questions, please ask them in class or e-mail them to me at:
