Wino An Essay by Jessica Erickson The Kool-Aid wino may be perceived as a child who is rebelling against his mother and his chores. He may be seen as a selfish child, who wants to do what he wants and when he wants to do it. Some may think that he is very lazy when he steps around his younger siblings instead of changing their soiled diapers, or when he ignores his mothers wishes for him to do the dishes. When you look just at what is apparent instead of reading between the lines, he does come off as a negative character. I believe that the Kool-Aid wino is a positive influence for anyone who was dealt a bad hand of cards at life. The Kool-Aid wino made up an escape from reality in order to deal with his hard life. It sounds to me like his mom is pretty lazy and neglects her responsibilities of tending to the children when they have soiled diapers and keeping the house clean. She is setting all of her duties as a mother onto her sick son. I feel that the Kool-Aid wino starts off his day by making his own unique schedule, one that no one else can take away from him. First, he starts by getting up already dressed. My feelings are that he probably showers, gets dressed, and then goes to bed, so that he will be ready right away in the moming. Then before going straight to changing diapers and washing dishes, he starts off his day by doing something that he really enjoys; that way he starts the day off on the right foot. Even though some may think that he is lazy, dirty, and a rebel child, he is just acting out like we would if we were in his place. We may not make sugarless Kool -Aid or sleep in our clothes, but we would do our own unique things in order to deal with the life that was dealt to us.
