101 Inroduction to Philosophy Group Writing Projects How to collaborate |
Part of what we're
learning in this class is how to share in a collaborative way (
and this doesn't mean just "going along with the
crowd"). Collaboration at times means expressing opinions
that may differ from those of the rest of the group. Believe me,
this is one of the few places where you should feel totally free
to express your thoughts without fear -- as long as you do it in a way
that respects others
as individual human beings.
Collaboration can take
many forms. It can be any and all of the following:
1. Helping other members of the group to isolate an aspect of the
topic or a thesis statement for their papers.
2. Sharing research sources and ideas.
3. Offering suggestions on how to shape the paper.
4. Offering editing suggestions for papers.
5. Proof-reading a paper for style, form,etc.
6. Helping a group member work through a blocked situation.
7. Helping each other by brainstorming through a problem.
I hope that all groups can work together collaboratively in all
the ways we have at our disposal: actually meeting for lunch or
whatever, meeting by telephone, meeting by e-mail, and meeting in
class.
