Essential Information:

1.
Requirement: Each student must write a 5-7 page

(length)           paper in standard essay form on one of
                             the suggested topics given below.
2.
Requirement: You must have a minimum of 1 book (or      (sources)         a chapter of a book but not our text), an                              essay or article from a "hard" journal,
and 2 good articles from the                              Internet.
3.
Weight:           The paper is 30% of your final grade.
4.
Due date:
5.
Procedures:   Students will form groups of 3-4
members. All members of the group must                             agree to work on the same topic.
Members of the group will select their
own specific aspect of that topic as a
subject for their own papers. Students
are encouraged to collaborate on the
general topic and share specific ideas,

but each student is responsible for his or
                            her own individual paper.

5.
Content:        The writing project uses a particular                            essay (Laura Bohannan's essay "Shake-
speare in the Bush") as a focus for all
other philosophical topics related to it.
This essay will be discussed at length in
class early on in the course.
